We are a year old and getting bigger by the meeting! Our December meeting saw the addition of two new members and the return of some familiar faces. It was a great way to cap off our first year and exciting to think that our next meeting could be face-to-face in the Wellbeing Centre at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
Nadia Rosin, CEO of Head and Neck Cancer Australia, book ended the year for us as our guest speaker today. Nadia joined us 12 months ago when the group was launched and it was fitting to have her back to share all the amazing (and hard) work Head and Neck Cancer Australia has undertaken during 2020 and their vision for 2021. Head and Neck Cancer Australia is the first Australian charity dedicated to providing education and support to people living with head and neck cancer, and is a wonderful source of information that many of our members and extended family have used before, during and after treatment. After Nadia's presentation we took some time to meet the new members of the group and share some of our experiences and share a laugh. It's been a challenging year for everyone and a recent diagnosis or facing treatment decisions are overwhelming in the best of times. It is lovely that we have built a group of welcoming and warm patients and carers to come together and support each other.
We are planning for our 2021 meetings which will include face-to-face and video conference opportunities. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and look forward to seeing new and familiar faces in 2021.
